Wildlife Company seeks Animal Control Techs (we train!)

A client reports birds chirping above the fireplace damper? Not so fast it might be baby raccoons they sound very chirpy and are often mistaken for birds.
Another client calls with skunks digging for grubs in the lawn and another person calls with Woodpeckers pecking on the cedar siding
These are the type of calls you will answer all day long as a dispatcher and office administrator for ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention in Arlington Heights www.abcwildlife.com.
This is a full-time career, so please respond only if you can work full time and are willing to make a minimum of a 1 to 2-year commitment. TO APPLY, PLEASE EMAIL THROUGH CRAIGSLIST AND TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU FEEL THAT YOU WOULD BE A GOOD MATCH FOR OUR COMPANY. WE DON'T LOOK AT RESUMES SENT ALONE, ONLY PERSONAL LETTERS OF INTEREST. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS YOU WOULD LIKE. PLEASE BE SURE TO TELL US THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN AND INCLUDE YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER.
THANKS
Here's a description of the technician position:
Wildlife (WE TRAIN!) do you love Animal Planet and Discovery Channel? (Arlington Heights)
Our organization has been featured on National Geographic and other shows, so if you enjoy that sort of adventure and information, you may be very interested in a career with us.
It's highly specialized work, though, so we need to find people who are just the right fit for our team. Please read what we're looking for below and let me know if you have the intelligence, strength and commitment to join our team. Although you don't need any prior experience with animals, you do need to have skills with ladders, tools, driving and walking on roofs. We inspect the roof of every home we visit, so you must have the strength and fitness to load our ladder on and off our trucks many times each day, position the ladder and climb up to the roofs. When you climb down, you may be carrying tools or other material with you This is a job for someone handy and fit.

Positions Available:
Seeking three fit, smart, enthusiastic people to train as Wildlife Control Technicians, full-time (permanent)
About Us:
Our specialty is humane removal, exclusion and damage remediation for all species of wildlife that damage property or pose a threat to human health and safety
www.abcwildlife.com
Days:
Our company is open everyday (365-days a year), but we each work a 4 to 5-day week. We rotate for days off, so you will need to work some weekend days. Most days begin around 8 a.m. and end around 5 p.m., but you will sometimes need to work later, like in the summer during our very busy season.
Hours:
We guarantee an average of 40 hours per week year round. The summer season features overtime. We are currently averaging 55 hours per week!
Training:
40 hours per week of paid on-the-job training/apprenticeship, as well as classroom training for the first 4 to 5 weeks. This is a long-term position, not a temporary or summer help' type of job. We invest so much training and development into our staff that we hope to retain them for a number of years. We strive for and achieve very low turnover, and because of this, we have an excellent and highly trained team.
Experience:
We do not require that you have experience in our field, or knowledge about trapping or wildlife. Since our training program is very thorough, we will teach you everything that you need to know to do the job. The type of experiences and aptitudes that we are looking for are intelligence, good conversation skills, physical fitness (this job is physically rigorous. . .), skill with ladders and climbing/walking on roofs, skill with using a drill and other tools to install animal-proof chimney caps and vent covers, an excellent driving record, honesty, dependability and a friendly disposition.
Logistics:
You report for work daily to our office in Arlington Heights. This job is similar to being a police officer, because you wear our uniform (which happen to be good-looking--made by companies like Columbia and the North Face) drive our trucks, use our equipment, and our dispatchers send you out on wildlife calls.
Typical Call:
Most of our calls are for squirrels or raccoons. You would set the appropriate humane trap, pick-up animals that are in traps, educate the client about the animal trapping process, take measurements and install chimney caps and other barrier methods on the client's home to keep other animals from entering.
The Down Side:
Since many kinds of animals are dangerously overpopulated, we are required by law to put some of the animals we catch to sleep. We dislike having to do this, because we are all animal lovers here, but it is the law, so we must. Apply for this job, only if you would be okay with following all laws, including that one.
Salary and
Benefits:
Licensing alone is a two month process. We pay an hourly wage and with all overtime our techs average between 25k-32k/yr during their first year. Also, there is a $250 bonus when you pass the licensing exam, with a guaranteed review within 6 months after receiving your licence. Time and a half pay for over 40 hours (since it is still our busy season we are currently averaging 55 hours per week). We have paid vacation and outstanding medical, dental and vision insurance. There are many merit-based opportunities for advancement. We take your training and advancement very seriously, as mentioned before we are building a team that we can count on for a long time.
How to Apply:
Please read the information provided above, and respond with your name, the town you live in, your telephone number, your availability and especially why you feel you would be a good candidate for this job. You may include your resume as an attachment, but we don't require it during this stage of hiring, and will focus more on what you write about how your aptitude and experience fit in with what we are looking for. Please make sure to include your telephone number, so WE can call you back for a telephone interview.
Additional Information about our Company:
We offer free lectures on wildlife to local libraries and schools through our partner not-for-profit organization, and we maintain a database of wildlife rehabilitators who rescue injured and orphaned wildlife.
Our Hiring Process:
1. Your email is reviewed and within a week of your submission you may be called back and offered a 10-minute telephone interview.
2. John may invite you to an interview session with our hiring managers. The session will take place in the Arlington Heights area.
3. Employment offers are made over the following few days.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our organization. I look forward to reading your submission, especially the part about why you feel that you'd be a good match for our company. Please make sure to include your telephone number in the body of your email. Please also know that we read only those submissions that contain a personal message resumes sent alone without a description about you will not be screened. The Wildlife Technician Position is a lot like being a police officer -- this means it involves interacting with the public and making important notes -- therefore, we need to make sure that you are able to follow directions and communicate clearly. This is why we ask you to help us get to know you by including a personal message about yourself and your interest in the position.
Sincerely,
Hiring Manager
