Sr Accountant

Description Shift:
Full time, Days Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting performs complex financial reporting and analysis for the Hospital (including Capco, Inc. and NCPA, LLC) and prepares consolidated financial statements for Northwest Community Healthcare (all entities). 1. Prepares all Northwest Community Hospital Consolidated (Hospital and its subsidiaries e.g., NCPA, LLC and Capco, Inc.) monthly financial statements, including detailed Profit and Loss statements, balance sheets, Statement of Changes in Cash, Statement of Changes in Net Assets, journal entries and associated schedules within strict reporting deadlines. Reviews significant items with the Director of Corporate Accounting. 2. Performs monthly accounting functions for the Hospital including preparation of journal entries and financial statements. Prepares General Ledger account reconciliations and analysis schedules. Reconciles various bank accounts and Blue Cross U.P.P. accounts. Records Patient Accounting interface activity. Processes system interface of Payroll to the General Ledger and balances to the source data. 3. Prepares elimination entries and Consolidated Financial Statements for Northwest Community Healthcare including detailed Profit and Loss statements, balance sheets, Statement of Changes in Cash, Statement of Changes in Net Assets, journal entries and associated schedules. Requiring significant accounting knowledge of all NCH entities (currently 9 separate corporations). Reviews significant items with the Director of Corporate Accounting. Ensures strict reporting deadlines are met. 4. Analyzes and explains significant budget variances for the Hospital monthly for both the current period and year-to-date activity. This involves detailed research of variances and can include written and verbal correspondence to understand the underlying variances. Communicates expense trends to the Director, Controller and Chief Financial Officer via written analysis report. 5. Prepares year-end audit schedules for the Hospital and other affiliates as assigned by the prescribed deadlines. Schedules entail summarizing data and preparing schedules in a prescribed format for use by the auditors. Works closely with the on-site auditors to answer questions or provide additional information they require. Serves as primary back up for the Director on any audit questions. 6. Prepares annual Federal and State income tax returns and supporting schedules (significant detail) for Hospital using an electronic reporting package provided by the external tax accountants. Compares results to prior years. Interacts collaboratively with external tax accountants to ensure accurate tax reporting. 7. Maintains investment records for the Hospital and prepares journal entries for all investment transactions. Utilizes online statement/transaction reporting systems of NCH Custody/Trustee banks. 8. Serves as a resource for other Accounting staff members and NCH department heads; responds to questions related to general accounting of all entities. 9. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Qualifications 1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Certified Public Accountant designation preferred. 2. Seven years of progressively responsible staff accountant experience, preferably in a healthcare organization. 3. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and other PC-based office automation. 4. Possess solid communication, technology, and organizational skills. 5. Strong analytical, accounting, and mathematical skills necessary to reconcile accounts, interpret financial data, and explain budget variances. 6. Ability to work independently and recognize situations that require consultation or guidance. 7. The ability to accommodate a flexible schedule when overtime is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Requires light physical effort. Requires long periods of sitting at a desk. May require frequent lifting or moving of lightweight material, occasional moving or lifting of average weight materials, i.e., bankers' boxes of reports weighting approximately 30 pounds. 2. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
