Director, Workforce Optimization

Description Reporting to the Executive Vice President and COO, oversees the labor budgeting, productivity, and benchmarking activities of NCH and will be responsible for the daily system administration and reporting from the labor productivity system. The position will support patient care operations staffing across the continuum. Inpatient, outpatient, direct patient care, clinical support, facility support and ancillary services. 1. Consults with clinical leaders throughout the organization on budget, staffing, and productivity plans. Schedules, monitors and reports workforce availability to ensure staffing levels match the demands of volume, service delivery and performance targets. 2. Responsible for reviewing productivity metrics and working with hospitals and divisions to identify opportunities and ensure staffing levels are appropriate with volumes. 3. Provides expert advice and leadership in workforce design and staffing. Partners with operational groups to implement solutions for service delivery within staffing, budget and productivity targets. Develops policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective organization-wide workforce staffing and utilization practices, as needed. 4. Supports NCH lines of business in achieving strategic goals by leading cross-functional teams through operational improvement initiatives resulting in improved efficiencies, advancing operational standardization and achievement of growth plans and strategies. 5. Coordinates and manages all agency contracts across NCH. Serves as a liaison to contract staffing agencies that supply, ensures appropriate billing, documentation, and service delivery. 6. Reviews effectiveness and consistency of programs which target staffing such as crisis pay, or productivity such as performance incentives for effectiveness. Works with the clinical leaders on incentive elements for program design, costs and desired return. Partners with Human Resources and Compensation on design, update and implementation of pay programs. 7. Monitors staffing and labor utilization performance of hospitals, reports trends and advises senior management. Actively supports departmental performance improvement activities. Reviews data and results with leaders and reports results and advises on corrective actions as necessary. 8. Provides productivity system training to hospital teams and directors, as requested. 9. Interviews, hires, disciplines and discharges (when necessary) subordinate team members. Regularly evaluates the performance of team members in accordance with the hospital's performance management system. Supports development of team member's knowledge and skills through regular feedback, recognition of positive accomplishments, and coaching opportunities. 10. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in business related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 2. Minimum of 5 years related leadership experience preferably in a healthcare and or hospital environment. 3. Demonstrated leadership utilizing operational analytics, developing and incorporating the use of benchmarks and standardized performance improvement methodologies and metrics in a healthcare setting. 4. Demonstrated experience in standardized QI methodology (FOCUS-PDCA, LEAN or other) and time study techniques required. 5. Strong organizational and time management skills necessary to balance multiple priorities and complete tasks, assignments and projects with little or no supervision. 6. Strong relationship-building abilities and delivery of exceptional customer service. 7. Demonstrated leadership skills and competency in effective problem-solving, conflict management and resolution, performance management, motivation of others and critical thinking. 8. The ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. 9. The ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities. Works independently with minimal guidance and works effectively in team settings. 10. The technical skills required to perform basic troubleshooting and to successfully perform simple and complicated tasks in programs such as Microsoft Office, HRIS platforms, Adobe Acrobat, LMS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
