Clinical Nurse Manager - NCH Rehab Unit at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights, IL

Reporting to the Clinical Area Director, is responsibility for the assigned Clinical Area including physicians that encounter this department. Responsible for:
organizing, planning, directing, controlling, budgeting and staffing all clinical functions. Assures the nursing process is utilized as the framework for patient care and applies the nursing process to own practice as defined in the American Nursing Association. Ensures utilization of the nursing process overseeing the delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of patient outcomes and that plans of care are revised as indicated. This job description was developed in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. 1. Manages unit in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Maintains standards of patient care. Supervises overall patient care and maintains quality improvement standards including periodic review of policies, procedures, and treatment plans in order to conform to continuous quality improvement process. 2. Assists in the development of annual budgets and the business plan. Recommends plans to accomplish agreed upon goals with the director. Allocates resources to accomplish goals. Manages departmental budgets, formulates capital budget, reviews management reports, identifies trends, analyzes budget variances and formulates action plans in collaboration with the director. Monitors unit equipment and supply levels and costs in conjunction with staff. 3. Interviews, hires, disciplines, and discharges (when necessary) subordinate personnel. Regularly evaluates the performance of personnel according to the guidelines of the hospital's performance management system. Ensures that employees are oriented to the department and hospital. Oversees the planning and implementation of educational programs for the department. 4. Formulates policies and procedures for the Clinical Area as assigned. Communicates policies and procedures to employees and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure that evidence-based standards of patient care are met. Develops and implements action plans to continuously improve clinical services. Assesses areas of opportunity for the enhancement of the Clinical Area and develops action plans to be integrated into operational plans. 5. Collaborates with physicians to identify patient needs. Facilitates cooperative working relationships between personnel and physicians to deliver an effective, efficient service. Represents the department at hospital and physician sponsored meetings. Participates in interdepartmental or interdisciplinary groups to assure that the unit's services are effectively integrated into the organization's system for delivering patient and family centered care to enhance coordination of services. 6. Recommends communications and operational enhancements that support customer focused improvements. Develops and implements action plans to continuously improve the Patient Experience for the Clinical Area assigned as measured by patient satisfaction scores. Serves as liaison for customer service difficulties and intercedes in patient issues that are beyond the limits of the staff. 7. Challenges, motivates and mentors employees; seeks out and shares new knowledge (i.e., information, technology). Creates an environment for learning and growth. Works with staff to develop and implement action plans to continuously improve the workforce environment for the Clinical Area assigned as measured by nurse satisfaction scores and employee satisfaction scores. 8. Shares responsibility for related Clinical Units in the absence of one of the other managers. 9. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) standards, policies and procedures. Qualifications 1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing required. 2. Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois. 3. Three years of progressively responsible relevant clinical experience. 4. Minimum of three years management experience. 5. Current CPR certification through American Heart Association. 6. Specialty certification required. Candidate will be considered with commitment to obtain certification within two years from date of hire. 7. The interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, patients and their families, and physicians. 8. The analytical ability to assess patients' needs, develop a staffing budget and departmental goals, evaluate subordinates' performance, and collaborate on the operational budget with the director. 9. The ability and self-assurance to be assertive and innovative when collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. 10. The leadership skills necessary to delegate appropriately and direct activity in provision of patient care. 11. The organizational and decision-making skills necessary to work independently and anticipate, prioritize, follow through, and effectively manage time and resources. 12. Proficient computer skills. 13. Proficient in area of specialty/practice. 14. The ability to project a professional image that is consistent with the NCH value of customer focus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Requires moderate physical effort. May require periods of standing or walking. May require frequent lifting or moving of average weight material or occasional lifting or moving heavy weight material in difficult work positions. 2. The flow of work and character of duties involves normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Working conditions are acceptable. There is exposure to infectious diseases, biophysical hazards and high-pressure medical gases. Must be able to work in a busy area with constant traffic of personnel. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
