Reporting to the Executive Vice President Patient Services & CNO, maintains responsibility for the strategic development, implementation and maintenance of Medical Surgical Inpatient Services. Works within a matrixed organizational structure to facilitate planning, business, operational, human resources, and medical staff issues; as well as quality, marketing and philanthropic management. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the direct operation of the following areas:
Pulmonary Rehab, Cardiac / Renal, Medical, Ortho, Neurology, Surgical, Observation Unit, Surge Unit, Med Surgical Float Pool and other clinical units as assigned. In conjunction with the Medical leadership ensures patient care is provided in accordance with all standards of care applicable. Assures that the nursing process is utilized as the framework for patient care and applies the nursing process to own practice as defined in the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators. Ensures utilization of the nursing process overseeing the delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of patient outcomes and that plans of care are revised as indicated. This job description was developed in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. 1. Develops short and long term goals and the plans to accomplish agreed upon goals in consultation with the Executive Vice President Patient Services and CNO. Assesses and recommends the resources that are needed to accomplish agreed upon goals. Develops annual business plans and budgets that reflect these needs. Secures approval of and manages departmental budgets in accordance with approved plan. 2. Directs program development and strategic planning in collaboration with the Executive Vice President Patient Services and CNO, medical leadership, and direct care staff. Assesses areas of opportunity for the growth of services and develops action plans to be integrated into the business plan. Develops and prepares marketing plans in conjunction with Marketing Communications. 3. Monitors internal and external environmental factors such as regulatory issues, practice changes, and medical legal issues. Communicates concerns, issues and opportunities to senior leadership, medical staff and staff as appropriate. Formulates plans to address concerns and issues. 4. Facilitates the coordination and integration of interdepartmental and intradepartmental care and services. Participates in inter-departmental or multi-disciplinary committees to ensure that all clinical and business functions are effectively integrated into the organization for the delivery of patient care and to enhance coordination of services. 5. Formulates policies for Inpatient Services and secures appropriate approvals. Develops and administers procedures and plans necessary to implement approved policies. Communicates all policies to employees and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure efficient and effective services. Maintains quality control programs as appropriate. Supports the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by maintaining quality improvement standards including a periodic review of policies, procedures and treatment plans; measures patient customer and physician customer expectations and communicates results to the appropriate personnel. 6. Maintains a strong commitment to customer focus. Identifies physician, patient, and payor needs and expectations. Facilitates cooperative working relationships with physicians and among physicians to develop and deliver effective, efficient services that meet patient, physician and payor needs, and organizational goals. 7. Develops and manages existing decision support systems. Uses decision support system information to develop and implement financial controls and tools and to direct changes according to physician/payor utilization, volumes, profitability, acuity, severity, reimbursement, pricing and variances for service line performance. Prepares, or directs the preparation of records as well as recurring and special reports and analyses. 8. Interviews, hires, disciplines, and discharges (when necessary) subordinate personnel. Regularly evaluates the performance of personnel according to the guidelines of the hospital's performance management system. Recommends / initiates corrective action as appropriate. Ensures that employees are oriented to the departments and hospital, including safety and infection control policies and procedures. Allocates time for education and shared leadership meetings. Oversees the planning of in-service educational programs for subordinates, students, and other hospital personnel as necessary. Collaborates with others responsible for organization wide education to assure that learning needs are identified and addressed. Adheres to, and ensures that employees adhere to, all departmental and hospital safety standards in order to maintain a safe patient care and work environment. 9. Actively participates in professional organizations. Involved in community activity. 10. Adheres to all Northwest Community Healthcare standards, policies, and procedures. Qualifications 1. Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Nursing required. 2. Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois. 3. Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible clinical nursing experience. 4. Previous executive management experience preferred. 5. Certification in Nursing Administration within one year. 6. Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Nursing required. 7. Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois. 8. Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible clinical nursing experience. 9. Previous executive management experience preferred. 10. Certification in Nursing Administration within one year. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
