Systems Engineer - Information Mngmt &Technology at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights, IL

Reporting to the I.T. Core Infrastructure Manager provides 2nd and 3rd level day to day support across multiple services and technologies. Responsible for creating services, technology roadmaps and drive their implementation. This role will have significant contribution to initial decisions and ongoing operations of the technical infrastructure across the organization. Leads the deployment and operational support for all Infrastructure Technologies resources and operating systems. Performs multiple subject matter responsibilities for infrastructure services and applications including:
AD, messaging, system management, virtualization, VMware, Exchange, etc. Plays a key role in engineering infrastructure strategies such as:
file, print, storage, backup, capacity planning, and other IT projects and/or processes. Responsible meeting the goals set in Information Management and Technology (IMT) Infrastructure Support Service Level Agreements. 1. Responsible for supporting the day to day operations of VMWare, AD, Exchange, SolarWinds, Lync, and other various services by supplying Level 2 and 3 expertise and direction. Leads various technical product teams (i.e. Windows, Exchange, VMware, etc.) by providing support for system maintenance and operational support. 2. Serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert on small to medium sized projects. Provides mentoring and training to System Admins and Engineers across Infrastructure groups. 3. Conducts detailed systems analysis; recommends solutions to improve performance or solve problems; installs hardware components; creates and engineers service solutions for multiple technologies. 4. Actively participates in selection and installation of new systems, upgrades, and enhancements; educates users on changes; recommends alternate solutions as necessary and orders hardware/software. 5. Maintains all documentation related to hardware, system software and common procedures to be carried out by operations and/or help desk personnel, relative to assigned systems. 6. Analyzes specific security requirements for supported systems. Creates documents and maintains a step by step procedure manual on each layer of the system for each type of system specific security; includes new systems as they are added to the network. Assures that system integrity and security are maintained for all business services. 7. Responsible for multiple disciplines within the infrastructure space. 8. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures. Qualifications 1. Bachelor's or equivalent experience; advanced industry certifications a plus (Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Storage, etc.). 2. 7
Years working within professional, enterprise level IT Organization 3. 3
Years of experience in working as a Systems Administrator or Engineer 4. Experience in installing and supporting Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016, MS SQL Server, Exchange, Internet Information Server (IIS), Active Directory, DHCP & DNS Servers, VMWare, Citrix XenApp, and Citrix XenDesktop preferred. 5. Experience in supporting a campus wide WAN/LAN environment constituting storage, servers, and appliances via backbone connectivity utilizing various network protocols preferred. 6. Knowledge of SolarWinds or other server/network monitoring software and wireless communications preferred. 7. Knowledge and understanding of technical specifications of the hardware components and features of the operating systems of assigned systems. 8. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate system issues with users, vendors and other employees of the hospital. 9. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 10.Interpersonal skills necessary to interface effectively with users, vendors, external agencies and other employees of the hospital. 11. Be an active project team member for various strategic infrastructure initiatives including acquisitions, centralization, consolidation, etc 12. Be available (on call) for off hour problems / issues that might arise which are deemed critical to business integrity.
